Pomlief
Sanne De Bresser seems like a very trustworthy person. Who really loves the Pomeranian breed. Her website and social pages look really pretty and clean and also her pictures are truly stunning. Of course on the outside it's very hard to decide whether or not someone is a quality breeder/reseller. Well in my opinion Sanne is very good at marketing she is very upfront about the dogs coming from Russia and that she works with select breeders. I wonder how she selects since in Russia that appears to be very hard without visiting the breeders yourself. Just pictures and videos wouldn't suffice for me personally.
She of course earns the right to resell Pomeranians but if you really love the breed and sell untested dogs coming from various breeders in Russia. Do you really love it? Or did you catch the gold fever?
After going through some of the reviews and stories I read from people who bought a Pomeranian at Pomlief. Some really got a neurological nightmare. On her website she explains her knowledge about sm/cm how it ''Works'' Well according to her testing seems very unnecessary since there isn't a warranty either way. To me this is taking the easy way out and simply justifying yourself rolling the dice. According to her if the parents are carriers of sm/cm you can get a sm/cm free puppy. Well this is a smaller chance than winning the lotto. Sm/Cm is very much a heritage disease. Parents who don't carry the disease and are tested don't rule out that your puppy will be free from it but the other way around is almost a certainty. So this misinformation is simply an excuse of not doing the expensive testing. Also the breeding dogs of her Russian breeders don't test on patella luxation apparently. Sanne clears up that a Dutch veterinarian tests her puppies which is pretty useless at such a young age. Besides such testing is best carried out by a specialist rather than an ordinary vet. She again cleverly finds a way out of testing by again sharing her ''knowledge'' based on an opinion not facts. Of course patella luxation is a heritage disease. If a dog has it in both legs is almost always because of genetics and not of a bad fall or high jump as she tells on her website.
Testing doesn't give a warranty so it isn't done. Nothing is a warranty in life but if you don't test you clearly know nothing and also can't eliminate bad lines in your breeding. According to her no one tests in Russia on heritage diseases. Well she didn't get her information updated I assume since the Patella luxation test is carried out by reputable breeders. Simply not the ''breeders'' she works with. Resellers always need to make profit, the chances of buying a bad dog from a reseller is therefor way bigger. Usually the margins of the dogs they buy and sell is doubled or tripled even so the cheaper the purchase bulk price of the puppies the more profit can be made. My opinion is to stay away from Resellers all together since I haven't found one yet not framing/lying and making things way more beautiful than reality often is.
Also anyone who transport young dogs by road in a small van for days on end can't in my opinion really love these animals. Since its always traumatic and too long for such a young animal. Reputible breeders in Russia never do this. I know of a few who even write against doing it and the reasons why. Also reputable breeders in other countries don't sell to resellers simply because they can sell their puppies themselves and don't need a ''Salesperson.''
But the story of pomlief has already changed from the love of Pomeranians also to the new fashion standard in dogs ''the toy poodle.'' As problems with the Pomeranian breed come to light and health is declining Sanne already has a new sale Strategie ''The toy poodle.'' It must be nice to have a back up breed.
